New Job

Monday, June 25th, 2007

I started my first day at a new job today. It was somewhat of a relief to get out of the atmosphere of the last days of my former job. Not because I didn’t like the job or because I didn’t like the people, but because the company had decided to merge my division with a recent acquisition, and as a result, our entire product line was being thrown away. The product line I had spent countless hours working on. So, rather than find another job in the company, I moved to an ad agency in town.

So far it’s a really nice encouraging atmosphere. It’s a small team with big dreams. It seems like the sky is the limit and that is very encouraging. I’ll post some once some of my work goes live.

On a spiritual note, I’ve been re-reading a great book on Feng Shui named “Clearing Your Clutter with Feng Shui” by Karen Kingston. It’s a great book (as is the other one on Feng Shui by the same author. It really makes you think about simple ways to make your area a better place to live. I would recommend reading it even if you don’t consider yourself a clutterholic.

Doing a jazz cover of Iron Man. I had The Bad Plus disc where they covered Smells Like Teen Spirit, but this is even better! Check it out on Give.

8 Things

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

So here’s the deal. I’m going to tell eight random facts about me. Then I’m supposed to tell you the rules, and tag eight more people. However, I don’t feel motivated to tell the tag eight people. If you want me to tag you, let me know and I’ll tag you. The rules are in sentences two and three. I want to warn you now that these facts are quite random.

  1. I like hookahs.
  2. I like trying random beers. At the pub (Mo & O’Malleys) across the street from work, I always just go in and ask the waitress (the same one works there just about every day) to surprise me. And I’m always been surprised. Recently, I’ve been trying a bunch of black and tan varieties including half and halfs, american snakebites, guiness/smithwicks, etc. It’s been a lot of fun.
  3. I cut my finger cutting a bagel after work last week and it bled for a long time. My wife says it was karma because I should eat real food after work and not bagels. She always gets tiffed at me for that, but bagels are so tasty.
  4. I have a lot of random cameras, but no digital ones. I’m not an infidel yet. Except when I borrow my wife’s. Yashica TLRs are fun. And film + processing adds up.
  5. I bought some vintage Wharfedale speakers last weekend at a thrift store. I like them a lot.
  6. I like Ikea lamps.
  7. I just got a Gloria Estefan Greatest Hits CD in the mail. I don’t know why people look at me funny for that. Whenever I’m down, I listen to “Conga” and I feel all better before the song is through.
  8. All ten of my toes are still fully attached to my body.
