I Feel Bad, But…

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Sometimes I really hate Christians (in general.) For those of you who don’t know, I am due to be married in less than a month now. We are going through marriage counselling now at the church we will be married at, and there’s just something about it that makes me really want to hate Christians and hate God. I mean it’s marriage! People I am very close to who are married and know my fiancee and I say it’s great and that we will make a good couple. So, why does the pastor I always had the highest regard for make this whole thing sound like the worst possible thing a person could do? He gave us this book Intended for Pleasure. It might be a good book if you are 50 or if you are a medical student, but for me? Reading the first three chapters of the book made me want to take a vow of celibacy. Really. I don’t understand most Christians at all. Why are so many so bland and down-the-line about things. Can’t things be free and loving instead of played out like a script? I’m talking about marriage in general, nothing specific. It just drives me crazy.

If you are a Christian and reading this, I’m probably not ranting about you. You are probably the more “normal” kind. I’m sorry, I just had to vent on this tonight. And by saying I hate Christians (in general) I don’t mean that I hate the people, I just want to have nothing to do with them.

Sky

The moon is so bright today. The clouds look like cotton balls glowing from the light of the moon. It is so beautiful out there today, I just basked in it for a few minutes. So very beautiful. I don’t have a digital camera right now (it’s on loan) but I did snap a few shots with my SLR. If they come out I’ll post a few pictures on here.

Just looking at the image warmed me.

Which Do You Believe?

Monday, May 8th, 2006

I found this on the Lectio Divina Group and thought it was worth posting.

You can believe two of the three following statements, but not all three:

1.) God wills to save all men
2.) God is powerful enough to save all men
3.) Some men will go to Eternal Torment

Of course, I suppose it is possible to believe all three as God is bigger than our understanding and because of the classical Christian belief that God is omnipotent (all-powerful) and people have free will, but it is still an interesting Christian koan.

Ukraine

A friend of mine graduated today. At a graduation party in her honor, I saw parents who had come from Sevastopol, Ukraine for the ceremony. They reminded me of my experiences in Ukraine, and I found myself missing the people and places there. I thought I would post a little tribute to my experience in Ukraine. Enjoy.
